Nicole (Ballard) Spence

Hello everyone. It's been nice to see what everyone is up to and it was good to see everyone at the reunion last summer too. After graduation I went to college, well a few college's anyway. I made my way around southern Idaho attending Ricks, ISU, BSU, and then graduated from BYU-Idaho. I was married in 2002 to Brett. We have 3 children; Meg, Nia, and Zac. We have a crazy little life, but we enjoy it.

Frani (Stronks) Little

Hello Everyone,

It's me Frani! Just thought I'd drop everyone a line and say hi. I just wanted to say that the class reunion this summer was a lot of fun. It was nice to see all who came. To all who were not able to come. You were missed. It is amazing to see how we have all grown-up. Me, I'm grown-up but still a big kid at heart. Yes, I still like to watch Saved By the Bell re-runs, watch cartoons in my pajamas with my kids and eat M&M's! I am proud of it!
If you are wondering about my life since high school here's the scoop. After graduating I went to Ricks College where I met Aaron my husband. We were married in August of 1999. After Ricks we attended school at Idaho State University and graduated in 2002. Then we moved to West Valley, Utah next to Salt Lake. We lived there for 4 years. While living in Utah, Nathaniel, our first child was born. In 2006, we moved back to Idaho settling in Driggs. In September of 2006, our daughter Hayley was born. We love it in Driggs. We manage our own business Driggs Tire with Aaron's parents. My in-laws are the best! I love my husband, my kids, and life by the beautiful Tetons. Just two and a half months ago, our baby Sophia was born. She is a little love bug. To see pictures of my family go to my blog at lovethelittles.blogspot.com or write me an email at love_thelittles@yahoo.com . I'd love to hear from all of you. Hope all of you and your families are happy and healthy in the years to come.

Hey!
It was so much fun hearing how you guys are doing and seeing pictures of everyone!! Thank you to Chanah, Nicole, Katie & Heidi and all who put together the reunion and pictures of the event! I'm sorry I wasn't able to attend, but it was great to see some photos of those who were there.
So, the past 10 years... Well, in the summers during college I worked at Camp Perkins in Sun Valley, Idaho. Through that I acquired a great love for many outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking, camping, and backpacking. Now that I live in the flatlands of the Midwest, I really miss the mountains.
For college, I attended a Lutheran university about 30 miles west of Lincoln, Nebraska. I met my husband (Brian) there, and we moved into Lincoln, where we both worked as Youth Ministers at separate churches for about 4 years (though we were never "Big Red" fans). I ran in a half marathon in 2005. We had a baby girl (Rachel) in the spring of 2006, and in the fall of that year I participated in a two-person triathlon (which was a lot more fun than the 1/2 marathon).
Shortly after that, my husband was offered the Youth Minister position at his home church in Wichita, Kansas. He took the job, and I love being here (despite the hot and humid summers). Brian has always been a fan of the Kansas Jayhawks - and last year was a great year to be a KU fan!! ("Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk!") This last May, we were blessed with a baby boy (David). So, the kids and church activities fill my days. (The two other adults in David's baptism picture are my in-laws.)
I wish you all the very best!!

So much has happened...let me try to give you the short of it. After high school I went to ISU and didnt really learn much other than how to live on very little money. That didnt work out so well so I dabbled in different jobs. That didnt hold my interest too well either so....I moved to Billings, Montana and then decided to join the Army. I went to Fort Leonardwood, MO in 2002 for 8 weeks of hell and then to Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland for 10 more weeks of training to be a diesel mechanic (imagine that..yep) After all that training I finally got assigned to my unit, the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Fort Carson, CO. This is where I thought I fell in "love" and had a shotgun wedding before I deployed to Iraq. I was in Iraq for 367 long, hot, miserable days. Came back to the states and the husband was gone, apartment cleared out...... (long story) so anyway...got divorced...and carried on with my life in the military. Went to some pretty cool places, met cool people, a few years go by and then silly me...I fell in "love" again. Then got orders to deploy AGAIN...so back to Iraq I go. I am there for 60 days and I think I am dying....I am sick as hell and think I have cancer so I go to the medics and find out its not cancer.....its a baby!! So I take a 30 hour flight home and spend the next 7 months assigned to the rear detachment in Colorado. My son was born in November 2005. His dad is in Iraq....so I'm going it solo with an infant. So the dad comes home from Iraq, decides he's not really the father type...finds himself a girlfriend on the side (you know the rest, divorce #2, man I am on a roll huh). So...I finish my enlistment after 4 years of fun filled Army life and moved back to Idaho, I worked construction for awhile, worked for a vet, and now I work at the Fremont County court house and for Fremont Counties finest police department! I am engaged to the right one this time (Levi) & we will be getting married in September. My son is the coolest kid EVER, I didnt know one little person could make me so happy! Its good to be back home and it will be great to see everyone this summer! melissa_reum@yahoo.com

I guess I have been in denial that it has already been 10 years since we graduated and all sang, “Hold out your Candle” while playing with glow sticks underneath our robes. After high school, I continued to work at Fall River Electric for a few more years working as a warehouseman/groundsman during the summer months. I attended Idaho State University for a few years studying business. I then decided to go on a mission. I went to Raleigh, NC and had the time of my life meeting and getting acquainted with North Carolinians. They are the nicest people ever! After my mission, I continued to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Idaho State University. I swore up and down that I wasn’t going to get married until I was at least 28. Well, after only being home from my mission in July, I was married in May of the same year I came home from my mission at the young buck’s age of 23. I was very charismatic at the time (and I mean Ted Bundy style) and actually got my wife to ask me to marry her. She was my neighbor at the time. I changed my mind on a degree after I worked for the Bannock Youth Foundation. I found out that I love working with kids. So I decided to go into social work. I graduated from ISU in May of 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in social work with a minor in marketing and have been working with kids in children’s mental health ever since. I have been supervising other social workers for the past few years to make sure that they do not place too much negative energy toward the kids or I have to slap them in the jaw and say, “shut your mouth”. I also like to pretend I am “Lumberg” from the movie “Office Space” and I like to ask them if they got that memo. I was recently accepted into graduate school at Boise State University and will begin my graduate studies in August and plan to finish up in May of 2009. I currently reside in the great city of Pocatello with my wife, who is a speech pathologist, and no kids. I obsess about college football, play city soccer, play in basketball tournaments, watch, “How to Catch a Predator” and keep busy all the time. Currently, my wife and I are finishing our basement. I am still up in the air if I will make it to the reunion or not. I would love to see everyone, but if I don’t make it, you can shoot me an e-mail at fottybotch@hotmail.com. Best wishes and lots of sweet love to everyone in NF’s class of 98. I have enclosed pictures of myself when I was in high school and what I look like now when I go out dancing at the Green Triangle on Sunday afternoons.

Angela (Warnke) Neeley

It's hard to believe that so much can happen in 10 short years. As you all know, I got married to my high school sweetheart, a month after graduation. I worked for a doctors office as an assistant for a couple of years when I heard about an opening at a veterinary clinic. I applied and got the job. Working at the vet clinic was a dream come true for me. I got to work with some of the most amazing people, and I got to work with animals every day. What more could I have asked for?
Well, while working for the vet clinic I had three beautiful kids & found out what I'd been missing. Brindi will be 7 in September, Cael just turned 5, & Ambri is 3 1/2. I never thought I would be a mom, but I am & I love it!!!! I worked at the vet clinic for 7 years, during which time I got divorced from Randy. We'd never really gotten along well & couldn't stand the fighting anymore.
But, the vet clinic is also the scene for me meeting my new husband, and the love of my life!!!! I met Jared while he was bringing in some of his horses several years ago & we'd become pretty good friends. When I got divorced, it opened up a blank page for us & we decided to start seeing each other. Jared is 13 years older than me, never had kids, & has been paralyzed from his armpits down for 12 years. He's an absolutely amazing man with a heart of gold. He loves the kids and thinks of them as his own. I couldn't have asked for better. It didn't take long before we realized that we were destined to be together and shouldn't put off the inevitable any longer.
I left the vet clinic just before Jared & I got married so that I could devote more time to the kids and the projects that we have going on. We got married in October of 2007, we live in Sugar City, just off of highway 20, with close to 60 head of Morgan Horses. If you are driving by it's kinda hard to miss us, we're the big bunch of horses between the two over passes. We are trying to get our new house finished right now, and have a couple of apartment buildings to take care of, a few houses, a commercial building, and some bare ground waiting for us to put storage units up on it. So, we are extremely busy!!!!
I can't believe how much my outlook on life has changed in the last year since Jared & I have been together. I would have never thought I'd be a stay at home mom, but I am & I love it. There is nothing more rewarding than playing in a pile of dirt with my kids, taking them swimming, or saddling the pony and teaching them to ride. My family is so important to me and I absolutely love to spend time with them, even if it's just doing nothing at all. Life is great!!!! -- Angela M. Neeley

Andrea (Dance) Campbell

Wow ten years!!! It has gone by fast. Since high school I have moved 20 times. I have lived all over the Boise area, California and parts of Texas. I currently am living in Meridian Idaho, just outside of Boise. I have lived there for 8 months which is the longest I have lived anywhere in a long time. I am a proud mom of 3 boys. Josh is 7 1/2, Zach is almost 5, and I had Andrew 7 weeks ago. After high school I attended Ricks College where I was Majoring in Floral Design / Horticulture. I was only able to finish 2 semesters before I got married. I still had a love for floral design and wanted a job in that field to further my carreer and experience. I worked for several floral shops before I decided to venture off on my own. I started up "Flowers by Andrea" in 20007 which is based out of my home. I make several floral arrangements for a Home Decor company in Boise which I also decorate for weekly. I also do weddings and funerals...pretty much anything that you would need flowers for, I can do. So you probably wonder why I moved so much...well my husband at the time joined the Air Force. His job took us to Monterey California, then to San Angelo Texas, then to San Antonio Texas. There he decided he liked one of my really good friends and got her preganant with twins. So needless to say he married her and I moved back to Ashton again. Luckily my parents had just bought and remodeled another home in Ashton which I lived in for 5 months before I moved back to Boise to continue my floral carreer. There I meet my current husband Matt Campbell. We have been married for over a year now. He also is in the Military...Army National Guard. He is a Medic with them and has decided to get his Paramedic License. He is training to be a Paramedic Firefighter right now. I will be glad wh en his training is done. So those are some of the highlights and lowlights of the last ten years for me. So I guess I will see you are the reunion and we'll catch up more.

Josh Payne

Oh man were do I start? Well after leaving Ashton I moved to Couer d’ Alene Idaho, to fulfill my itch to play basketball at North Idaho College. It turns out basketball there wasn’t as fun as it was in high school so I turned to something I was better at politics. I served as a student senator and finally student body vice president. Then I realized paying for school wasn’t that fun anymore so I joined the US Army Reserves. Once I completed basic training. I came back to North Idaho and finished school at NIC and went on to the greatest school on earth the University of Idaho. After a fun three years at the U of I, I finally graduated. After graduation I moved back to Couer d’ Alene and was working for The Home Depot. This is were fate came into play and I meet my wife Dana, yes I did find someone that could put up with me. After getting married I packed up the family and went to the Armies officer candidate school in Ft. Benning GA. After completing OCS, I was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery. We are now at FT. Sill, Oklahoma for the artillery officer’s course after completion of the course I will be going back to FT. Benning for airborne school and then off to FT. Richardson, Alaska for my permanent duty assignment and deployment. We don’t have any kids yet but have two miniature schnauzers named Vandal and Lilly. I hope everyone has a great time at the reunion and who knows I might see you at the 20 year reunion.

Guillermo Rivas

Hey class of 98! I can't believe it's been ten years. I'm not going to be able to make it to the reunion, so I thought I'd share a little bit about myself.
Well where can I start? After graduating I kind of bounced around all over the state, mainly working construction. I moved in with one of my ex-girlfreinds, who I had been dating over a year in 2000, and ended up moving back east (PA) with her soon after. I started working refrigeration for her family and things were going pretty well. After about two years, things started getting a little rocky between us, I used to blame things on her but have realized now that I'm all grown, I might have had commitment issues. Anyways we ended up splitting, so I moved back to Boise in 03. I started school almost right away, went to Northwest Lineman College and graduated in 04. After graduation I ended up taking a job in Atlanta, GA, building powerlines, xciting huh! I traveled all over the south, spent 5 weeks in New Orleans, after Hurricane Katrina hit, restoring power. After about a year the south got pretty old, so I moved out to CA in 05, and currently live in Merced, CA (central CA). I've been out here, going on three years now, working for Pacific Gas and Electric, as a lineman. California is hot and crowded, but it's a pretty fun place to live at. What I really like about this place is how diverse it is, and I'm about two hours away from everything, beach, mountains, and the big cities. Well that's about all I have to say about myself, if anyone wants to drop me a line or a hello, you can reach me at rivasg01@yahoo.com, hope to hear from you-s. Oh yeah, the girl in the pic is my girlfreind Kanaka, been with her over a year now, she says hello-

Shauna (Arnold) Lounsbury

After high school I attended Ricks Collage for two years. I probably had a little too much fun and not enough learning. The best part, aside from meeting my future husband, was living with Nicole. Everyone should try that at least once in their life. I meet my husband Mark during my first week of collage and he hasn't left me alone since. He served a mission in parts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. We got married April 6, 2001. Mark worked at Melaleuca for our first year and I was a teller at a credit union. In 2002, Mark got a job as a security guard at the INL. It was a good job. We moved to Roberts and built a house. We all thought Ashton was small growing up, you guys should try living here! Mark grew up in Roberts and went to Rigby High School. In 2007, Mark got a job at the site as a Nuclear Fuel Handler. He finally had normal working hours and I was so happy.
So during these seven years of marriage we have made four babies. They are my life and I love it. Brenden is six, Jaycee is 4, Bentley is 2, and Tenley is almost two months. We enjoy riding bikes together, watching movies, and laughing at the funny things the kids do everyday. Mark plays city league softball every summer in Idaho Falls so we stay busy going to his games and Brenden's T-ball games.
Brenden was in kindergarten this year. That was weird because it still feel like I just graduated. So now I am an eighteen year old with four kids, a husband and a mortgage! Yikes
Life is good!

Teneille (Howell) Averett

Here's a little about us! After graduation I went to New Jersey and worked as a nanny for a year. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. I also got to see a lot of the East coast so overall it was a great experience. I came back and went to ISU for a year before I met Colby. We met in an institute ward the summer of 2000 and were married in November. Colby continued working on his journeyman electrician license and I was still studying at ISU. Kaya our daughter was born in February of 2003. I wimped out and couldn't go back to school. Then we thought it would be fun to build a house. It wasn't. We finished it in October of 2004 and Asher was born in December of that same year. Colby became a Journeyman Electrician and I went back to school and became a Massage Therapist. We had Herschel in April of 2006. Then we decided to sell our house and build another one. It still wasn't fun. We have an agreement that I'm not building another house unless it is outside Bannock County. We'll see who wins that battle. Last fall Colby started teaching the Electrical Technician Courses at ISU and I have a massage studio in our home. So that is us. See you this summer!

Heidi Eastman

Well, how do I even begin? I have spent the majority of the last 10 years in school. After high school, I started studying Physics at Ricks College. I realized that by taking just a few extra courses I could get a double major in Mathematics. After a couple of fun years and summers spent working at Badger Creek I graduated with associates’ degrees in math and in physics. I then left on a mission to Cochabamba Bolivia. I fell in love with the people and the culture there and cannot wait to go back.
When I came back home, I started back into school at BYU Idaho, this time focusing only on math and letting physics fall to be my minor. All throughout college I told myself and anyone that would ask that I would never be a teacher. My last semester I had to substitute a math education class for one of my other classes and I fell in love with teaching. After receiving my Bachelor's degree, I applied for and got hired to teach in the math department at BYU Idaho. I loved it! (It was especially fun to have students in my class that I knew from North Fremont)
I realized that if I wanted to continue teaching that I should go on to grad school. I selected Utah State and once again studied math. Logan was fun, and I loved going to the basketball games (Go Aggies!) but when BYU Idaho called me after I got my Master's degree to see if I would be interested in teaching, I jumped at the opportunity because no matter where I am my heart is always in Idaho.
My family sold the Hungry Bear Market in Island Park last November. It is weird to go home and not work there. I have been dating Steven Turner for about 2 years now. He is a great guy, couldn't ask for better, but he is a nerd just like me, he works at the INL. I guess that’s what I get.
I have fun marking off things that I never thought that I would do. For example: got a dog, traveled to different countries, did triathlons, went on cruises, raced snowmachines, sky dove, wakeboarded, surfed, curled with the U.S. Olympic coach, summated mountains, rode in a demolition derby, worked for fish and game, became addicted to Dr. Mario, got an amazing Chaco tan, saw a real hockey fight, and worked in the ‘spuds’ for the first time.
I’ve made some amazing friends over the years but it has been fun to try to stay in touch with people from our class, I wish that I was better and I am excited for this blog so I can find contact information for those that I have lost contact with.

Josh Rhodes

Hi everyone from Ashton! Josh is having me write this for him. (This is his wife, Tiffany.) The past ten years have flown by for Josh (he says). After high school he served a mission in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which he loved. Then he went to BYUI and after dating many (many, many, many.....) girls he finally met me and decided to give up his bachelor ways. Annie Marsden (wife of Jordan Marsden, Josh's college room mate) told me after our first couple group dates, "I'm surprised to see you again! Usually Josh's dates are only once then the next double date he has a new girl." So, I didn't know how I felt about that but he did convince me to marry him and after a six-month engagement, which everyone insisted we'd move up, (we didn't) we were married August 19, 2004 in Nauvoo, Illinois.

After getting married we did our junior years at BYUI. Then we went to live in Minneapolis for the summer where Josh worked for APX Alarm. That was a really fun summer and I recommend that place to anyone. Then it was back to Rexburg for our senior years. We thought we were pretty smart when we got pregnant with my due being scheduled for one month after graduation. Pretty good timing, huh? Wrong. Gabe decided to come 11 weeks early, about five weeks before our April graduation. Turns out I'm a bit defective when it comes to cooking a kid! Those were a hectic five weeks of running around between school, home, and the hospital, but we both still graduated with our Bachelor's degrees - Josh in Health Science and me in Communications. Our tough little guy quickly grew from 3 pounds, 10 ounces to over six pounds and was released from Madison Memorial after six weeks (still five weeks before my due date!)

That summer Josh managed for APX and we went to lots of places - Birmingham, Virginia Beach, and Kansas City. I do not recommend Birmingham to anyone. The only plus was that we lived practically in the backyard of The Cheesecake Factory. Virginia Beach was okay because of the beach, but otherwise really, really hot and humid. Kansas City was pretty nice. We got to see all the church history sites while we were there. So... this is requiring a lot of memory digging. Oh yeah, then we moved back to good ol' Ashton. Josh worked construction and we rented a house from Mary and Weldon Reynolds that was so cute! But after nine months we decided we had stayed in one place too long and decided to sell for APX again, this time in Sin City. We went with the brothers Fransen (all but the oldest) and had a pretty fun time there. For me and Gabe it was lots of pool time and trips to the Golden Spoon with the other wives! For Josh it was knocking doors in the blazing heat and swearing he'd never do it again. "Haha," I thought. "I've heard that before." But this summer he's been true to his word! After Vegas ended we moved to Wisconsin in the fall and we recently bought our first home. After being nomads for so long you'd think we'd be ecstatic but I think a part of us is a little sad. We like change. (Can you tell? I think we counted that we've had eleven addresses since we got married.)
We're expecting our second child (another boy) to be born anywhere from tomorrow to July 2 (I'm unpredictable) so we decided it was time to make some grown up decisions. Maybe the change of baby number 2 will be enough to satisfy us, but who knows. I'm sure someday we'll move back to Idaho but we'll probably move a few times before that too. Josh has been taking classes online through Lewis and Clark to get his secondary education certificate to teach science. He has about 2-3 semesters left. I'm sure he'd love to coach football too someday. So we'll see where that takes us. Right now our goal is just to have a healthy baby! That's about all I can think of and I'm sure it's more than Josh would've said! I've been on bed rest for eight weeks trying to keep this kid in me and I'm bored out of my mind! We also have a blog for Gabe at: http://gaberbaby.blogspot.com/ . Josh says hi and hopes everyone's doing well! Take care!

Sharmy (Reynolds) Steele

Hello Everyone,

My family and I are living in Jerome, Idaho. We just moved here in December of 2007 from Baker City, Oregon. Hopefully we will be here for a while. We lived in Baker for a year and really loved it there, but the job opportunity in Jerome was too good to pass up.

Before Baker we lived College Station, Texas for one year while my husband did his clinical year in veterinary medicine. Texas was hot with no beach. But, atleast we had a pool. The kid's enjoyed that and the abundant frogs jumping around the yard in the summer.

Previous to Texas we lived on an island called St. Kitts in the West Indies for almost three years. My husband attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, while I taught seventh and eighth grade social studies and language arts for three hours in the morning and was able to take my two kids with me. Amazing job! Huh!! St. Kitts was wonderful, but I missed my family and all the the luxuries of living in the U.S. The snorkeling was great and my kids and I were literally beach bums for the three years we lived there. We miss the lax way of life and the perfect weather.

Before St. Kitts we lived in Moscow where my husband and I both got our bachelors degrees and were trying to decide what to do with our lives.
A lot of moving, huh! Well, hopefully, we will stay put for awhile. We have moved so much because of my husbands schooling. Well, he has finished, whew! He is now a veterinarian and I am a stay-at-home mom of a six-year-old boy(Eli), a four-year-old girl(Kiya), and twin boys(Isaac and Isaiah)that will be two in a week.
Well that about sums it up!! If you want to email me my address is sharmynjed@yahoo.com. Well I hope to see you all at the reunion this summer!
Take Care,Sharmy Steele

Stevan Baxter

The Baxters are currently located in Salt Lake City. Wintertime is spent dreaming of skiing but in reality I just shovel snow in the Winter. Spring, Summer & Fall are spent road and mountain biking in the canyons with family hikes and a lot of yard and garden work mixed in. I did my first half marathon in Ashton's own Mesa Falls Marathon last Fall. Ashton does a great job putting that event together. In the meantime, I have been attending law school at the University of Utah and working for a law firm in SLC. I graduate in May and we will likely remain in SLC for the foreseeable future. Recent family highlights include visiting Tahoe and San Fransisco in October and visiting Washington D.C. in February. While in D.C. we ate at the famous "Five Guys" burger joint. They have a board that tells where that day's fries came from - the day we ate there the Famous Five Guys Fries came from Ashton Idaho. We thought that hometown love was pretty cool. My wife & I have been married for six years and have two kids: Hannah (5) and Rex (1). Hannah starts kindergarten in August and is full of energy and smiles. Rex is very serious and doesn't smile much but he's a good little fellow to have around. I just looked at this picture and it would seem that I'm developing a slight double chin and my hairline is receding. I'm hoping it is just the angle, though I have kept my hair very short for five years so as to avoid ever having to contemplate the comb-over. We've had the good fortune of keeping up with several of you and love to see you when you're passing through Salt Lake or when we're visiting Ashton. We look forward to catching up with many of you in July. Hopefully the snow will be gone by then.

Esther (Bishop) Machen

I met my husband Shane at BYU-Idaho. We are going on eight years of marriage. We have two mischievous children, Stetson (6) and Austin (2). Stetson loves doing gymnastics and is great on the rings. Austin loves riding his tricycle and watching Sponge Bob. We currently live in Kansas City, Missouri. We have been here for the last four years and will be here for a few more. We are both from Idaho and really miss being away from our families and friends. We hope to move back soon. I graduated with a BS in Dental Hygiene from ISU, but am now pursuing my DDS degree at UMKC School of Dentistry. I have national board exams that fall the time of the reunion, so I will probably not be able to make it to see you all. I would like to fill you all in on all of the exciting happenings of the Machen household, but our story is pretty boring. During the entire last ten years at least one of us, and most of the time both of us have been in school full time. I have two years left and I am done forever. Shane now works as a physician at Research Hospital.
